The martial art Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto ryu was represented in Bulgaria by one of the students of “Sugawara Martial Arts Institute”. This Institute was established in Tokyo, Japan by Tetsutaka Sugawara Sensei — kyoshi menkyo in Katori Shinto ryu and nanadan in Aikido.
2001 February
First practices in Bulgaria was started.

Zahari Georgiev, one of the first practitioners of this martial art, supported by a group of adherents establishes a branch of the school — Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto ryu, Bulgaria.
2006 February
Seminar in Turku, Finland and meeting with Sugawara Sensei. The clubs exchange seminars during the following years.
2007 January
Zahari Georgiev participates in the traditional festival of martial arts of “Sugawara Martial Arts Institute” in Tokyo, Japan.
2008, 2009 May
Zahari Georgiev follows Sugawara Sensei in Badajos, Spain for seminars at Kenshinkan dojo.
2008 September
Sugawara Sensei holds his first seminar in Bulgaria.
2009 January
Traditional festival of martial arts of “Sugawara Martial Arts Institute” in Tokyo.
2009 September
During his consecutive seminar in Bulgaria, Sugawara Sensei gives the name of Bulgarian school — Shinki Kenbukan dojo.
Today Shinki Kenbukan dojo continues its development, practicing in tradition.
